Mike Jefferson - A&P
Mike Jefferson, J&G Aviation’s CEO, partner and founder, is a certified Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) mechanic and has been with the company since it’s inception in mid 2015. His love of aviation began as a child growing up under the wide skies of Ohio, Michigan, and rural Kentucky. It has followed him throughout his career as an aviation professional, from the moment he graduated from the U.S. Air Force Academy in 1980 to his current role as co-founder and CEO of J&G Aviation.
While in the military, Mike flew both F-4 and F-15 fighter jets, including combat sorties throughout Desert Storm. While serving in Germany, Mike was a member of and flew with a German glider club. In 1992, he transitioned from the USAF to the Louisiana Air National Guard, where he continued his career in fighter aviation while flying for a major U.S. airline. After proudly serving for 24 years, Mike retired in 2006 at the rank of Colonel. His decorated military career included graduating from USAF Fighter Weapons School and serving an Instructor Pilot, Weapons Officer, Chief of Safety, Squadron Operations Officer, Fighter Squadron Commander, and Fighter Wing Commander—all while amassing a deep knowledge and respect for military and civilian aircraft maintenance.
Mike went on to earn his A&P certificate in 2015. Mike holds the following FAA ratings: A&P, ATP Airplane Multiengine Land, Commercial Airplane Single Engine & Glider; Flight Instructor Instrument Airplane.
When he’s not “flying or fixin”, Mike loves to spend time with his wife, children and grandchild, constantly enticing them to join him in pursuits to include: all forms of flying, snow skiing, hunting, fishing, scuba diving, and traveling.
